Speaker Bios
Emma Willey, MA, FRSA, Managing Director, ACS Learning & Consultancy Ltd
Emma, a founding Director of the ACS Group of Companies, has dedicated over 30 years to the Health & Safety industry, with experience ranging from asbestos testing to consulting and training. Surviving the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami in Thailand, which led to her developing PTSD, inspired her focus on workplace wellbeing. Emma now helps trauma survivors through complementary therapy and advocates for meaningful wellbeing practices that go beyond surface-level perks. She emphasizes tailored solutions for organisations, blending traditional and innovative approaches, and is a sought-after speaker at prominent events, from the British Safety Council to the House of Commons.
Martyn Wagstaff, Mental Health and Wellbeing Advisor, Springfield Advisory
Martyn's dedication to mental health advocacy stems from his personal struggles and the loss of a close friend to suicide, highlighting the stigma surrounding mental health, especially among men. As Mental Health Officer for Trefelin Boys and Girls Club, he raised awareness, reached over 1,500 people through programs across South Wales, and established a Wellbeing Space at the club. In 2023, Martyn became Tata Steel UK's first Mental Health and Wellbeing Advisor, working to combat mental health stigma in heavy industry. Now focusing on his business, Springfield Advisory, he supports organisations in promoting employee mental health and wellbeing.
Laura Baker, Experienced People Leader and Advocate for Mental Health
Laura has worked in the steel industry for over 20 years, leading departments across Commercial, Supply Chain, and Technical areas. Passionate about helping people thrive, she believes that a business’s greatest asset is its people and that success comes from supporting individuals to reach their potential. Her interest in mental health and wellbeing grew from personal experiences with mental ill-health, leading her to become a Mental Health First Aider and advocate for reducing stigma. Laura spearheaded the development of an integrated approach to workplace mental health and continues to champion improvements while supporting individuals on their personal journeys.
